5 Morning Rituals that Bring You Joy

Having a productive and consistent morning ritual has been linked to success. Personally, I believe it’s just a mere coincidence, but it doesn’t hurt to add one or two things to your mornings so you can start the day right.

Here is a list of morning rituals that would give you a kickstart to your day!

1. Gratitude List

Think of 3 things you’re grateful for each morning. You could even do this in your head on the way to work. Gratitude has been linked to multiple health and emotional benefits, and it barely takes any time at all including this into your morning ritual, making it an easy way to improve your quality of life!

2. Exercise

Exercising in the morning may make you feel lethargic in the beginning, but once you get used to it, the feel-good endorphins it produces pushes you to go through your day with happiness and energy! Plus, you would already feel productive, after exercising first thing in the morning and striking one morning ritual off your to-do list.

3.  Positive music / videos / books

Absorb feel-good music, videos and books with positive messages and reminders on having a healthy mindset towards life first thing in the morning. Once this becomes a habit, your mind will start to cultivate positive thoughts naturally.

4. To-Do List

Make a to-do list either the night before or in the morning before you get into your pile of work. Sort them out by importance before tackling each of them. This would help in productivity and feeling in control of all your tasks, instead of letting emails and tasks control you!

5. Fuel your Body Healthily

For your first meal of the day, it’s important to eat a healthy and hearty breakfast! Sometimes I split my breakfast into two, and eat the first half at 8.30am, followed by 10am, as I get hungry reallyyy quickly and find myself wanting to eat unhealthy snacks just before lunchtime. Try to include whole grains, fruits or vegetables into your diet, and top it off with lots of water! I usually finish 1.5 litres of water before lunchtime (but that’s because I feel thirsty almost al the time). Some examples of healthier foods are: muesli cereal, yogurt, fruits, oatmeal, vegetable and tofu soup, nuts and berries bread, wholemeal sandwich.

  1. This a great! I currently schedule time to meditate on what I’m grateful for but I think your advice to actually write it down is something that I’ll try to do in addition to meditation ?
